Fun math activities for Christmas

Fun Math Christmas Activities

Fun Christmas math activities! I need these every year to help me survive the week before Christmas break. 🤣

Fun Christmas activities keep students engaged and on task during those hard days before break. Below I have listed some of my favorite Christmas activities to do before we get out of school.

Christmas Math Activity- Games

Students love to play all types of games! I love to use these to review topics that we have learned in math during the first half of the year. You can use a board game that has math questions or you can play math Bingo.  Any game you normally play in class can be used, just adapt the questions if needed.

Christmas Math Activity- Scavenger Hunts

Another fun Christmas math activity is a scavenger hunt. Students get so excited when they walk in the room and discover we are using one! There are a variety of ways you can use them in your classroom and you can use them with any math topic.

I typically use my scavenger hunts the way they were intended by placing them up around my room and placing 2 to 3 students at each question. If I have  a lot of students in a class, I will print out 2 copies of the scavenger hunt, put them on separate sides of the room and have 2 scavenger hunts going at once.

I have also printed out a scavenger hunt per group of students and had them work at their desk to put them in order. Sometimes we compete to see who can get them in order first!

Another way is to use them is digitally. You can put the questions on a Google Slide and have them put them in order. If you have the time you can make a Google Form so that it is self-grading.

Christmas Math Activity-Coloring Sheets

This is a fun Christmas activity for middle school students. It is an easy way to review and practice math skills. My middle school students get excited when I give them one to complete in math class. They prefer doing these over a worksheet any day!

Christmas Math Activity-Task Cards

The last type of fun Christmas activity I use is task cards. You can use task cards in so many different ways. Students can complete these in groups, pairs or individually. You can also use them as questions for a board game or use them to play a game with the whole class. The possibilities are endless!
