Fun Math Review Activities

During the last quarter of the school year, I start thinking of ways to review the material we have covered throughout the year. It helps to have fun math review activities to use during this time.

Using fun math review activities is a great way to get kids engaged in learning math. Students will not mind practicing their math skills if they are participating in activities that are fun.

Puzzles for Review

My students love completing math puzzles while reviewing important concepts. You can do these puzzles individually, in pairs, or in small groups. The student has a set of puzzle pieces with math problems on them. They solve the problems and find the answer on another puzzle piece. They have completed the puzzle when they have matched all of the questions to an answer. The puzzle usually makes a shape. I tell my students what shape it will make or show them how it will look before they start. These do not take a long time to create and the students love them.

Games for Review

Board Games

Board games are a fun math review activity! You can use an old board game or find one you can print online for free. Create a set of questions for your students to use while playing the game. You will also need dice and markers for each player.

Digital Games such as Gimkit, Blooket, Quizizz, and Quizlet Live are great to use for reviewing math concepts. All of these have a free version. You can make your own questions or use questions from the websites. All of these will work on phones if your students do not have access to computers.

Point Quest Game

This is a fun math review activity that I have used for many years! You will need a set of questions to use for this game. Many times I will open up a textbook and pick questions from there to save time.

This game consists of a game board that you will display on the board. You can play this in groups or pairs. Present the groups with the first question. When a group gets a question correct they can pick a tile from the Point Quest game board. Under the tile, the student may find extra points or no points. We also have a game board that has negative points as well. The group with the most points wins.

We have a set of FREE Point Quest game boards for you if you would like to use them to help you review this year. Directions for three different ways to play the game are given in the download. Click below if you would like a copy!
