Google Forms in the Math Classroom

Now that schools are going one to one Google Forms have become more popular to use. Below are some easy ways to use Google Forms in math class.

Warm-Ups

Google Forms are great for warm-ups. You can easily type warm-up questions with answers to make the form. After the form is created, assign it to your class. You can choose the time to assign the form and you can also decide when you will not accept any more forms. The Google Form scores the warm-up so all you need to do is record the grade. This is much easier than taking up notebooks to grade.

Classwork

Google Forms can also be used for class practice assignments. Students can work on them individually, in groups or in pairs. You can put task cards on a Google Form and let students discuss answers and have them record their answers on the form. It is good to give students opportunities to discuss problems with each other and help each other. You can set the Google Form so students can see the problems they missed. Students can then discuss the problems that they missed in the group.

Homework

Checking homework is easy when you use a Google Form. You can know before students come into class who has completed their homework. Students can a look over the problems missed while they are at home. The next day in class students are ready to ask questions.

Assessments

Assessments are probably the most common way Google Forms are used in the math classroom. Google forms are great for quizzes.  You can get the results of the quizzes quickly and use the data to help you plan. Unit tests can be given on Google Forms also. You can ask questions that have answers that need to be explained. You will need to grade those questions yourself. When you grade those questions, you will need to read them.  The format of the Google Form makes it easy to go through and read and grade the answers quickly.

Google Forms are an easy quick way to assess in math. Students can use them to assess their own knowledge when they look back over problems they miss. Teachers can use them to ask questions that show their thinking.
