Quizlet – A Great Study Tool!

Quizlet has been around a around for a long time now and is a popular study tool that many teachers and students use. When you hear the term Quizlet most people think of flashcards. That is what the sight is known for, and flashcards are a great way to study. Quizlet has added other ways to study over the years. Let’s review how Quizlet can be used to study.

Quizlet Flashcards

The first study option you see when you choose your Quizlet set is flashcards. With flashcards you are given the definition (or problem) and you tell yourself the answer, click the problem to see the other side and see if you are correct. For vocabulary if you want to see the term first you can choose that option at the bottom of the card.

You can also use Quizlet flashcards to practice math facts, math problems, or any type of study guide with questions and answers. Make sure when you are using Quizlet flashcards to study using questions that you start with the question side of the card.

As you study you can go through the set as many times as you want to. You can also star a card if you keep missing it and feel like you need to study it. When you get to the end of the set you can choose to study the set you starred so,  you are studying the terms you do not know as well.

Quizlet Learn

The second study option you see when you choose your study set  on Quizlet is Learn. This activity starts off by giving  you  multiple-choice problems. After the multiple-choice problems, you have problems that require you type in the answer. You need to make sure you type in the correct answer the way it is written on the flashcards. It does overlook some misspellings if it is close. Both sets of questions keep going until you get them correct. Doing the problems, you missed again until you get them correct. This activity can be done with most study sets. Vocabulary, math facts, and math problems work well with this activity because there is usually one answer.

Quizlet Write

The third study option you see when you choose your study set on Quizlet  is Write. This would be good for math problems that have an exact answer. Like adding integers. Typing in the answer should be easy because there is one answer. It could also be used for spelling vocabulary. It would not be good to use for flashcards that have long answers.

Quizlet Spell

The fourth study option you see when you choose your study set on Quizlet  is Spell. The Spell activity has a play button to read out the term on the card. You need to type what it says. This would be great for spelling. It is like when a teacher calls out spelling words for students on a spelling test. This would be a great way for students to practice for a spelling test.

Quizlet has a lot to offer as a study tool. When you choose a study set for it gives you a variety of study tools. Some study tools work better with different types of study sets but you still have plenty of study tools no matter which study set you are using. Quizlet also has the option of looking for study sets to use if you do not have one of your own. Teachers are also able to share Quizlet study set links with students to help them study. The links can be emailed to students, put on Google Classroom, sent out on Remind, put on the teacher’s webpage, etc.
