The end of the school year is approaching fast. Sometimes you wonder what to do at the end of the school year when your paperwork is done. The end of the year workdays is a great time to clean and get ready for the next school year.
Closet Clean Out
The beginning of the school year is so busy and closets are often ignored. The end of the school year is a good time to clean out and organize the closets in your room. Go through and organize things that were put back in the wrong place. Throw away or give away things you do not need. Take inventory of what you have and make a list of what you need more of for next year. It is nice to get it done before the next year starts.
Desk Clean Out
This is also a good time to clean out your desk. Gather all the important documents that need to be shredded and shred them. Get rid of used materials and supplies. Organize supplies you want to keep for next year and don’t forget to wipe down the desk.
Make copies
Many times, you have extra copy paper or copies left at the end of the school year. If you do, make copies of papers you know you will need next year. Do you have papers that you always pass out at the beginning of the year? Do you have a project or activity you know you do every year? Go ahead and copy it.
Bulletin Board
If you have extra time and your school allows you to keep stuff on your wall, put up a bulletin board. Find a bulletin board you want to start off the school year with. This will save you time next school year.
Plan
Take time to plan for next year. Make a pacing guide. Map out what you are teaching and when you want to do special projects or assessments. Keep it general. It can be updated when the new school year starts and you get more curriculum information from your school or district. Check out the blog on Planning Your Scope and Sequence for the Year.
Conclusion
As you can see there is much that can be done at the end of the year. If you have time I encourage you to take advantage of it. It will make your start to the next school year easier.
