Games for Review- Blooket

Using games for math review is a great way to get kids engaged in learning math. Students enjoy playing games and will not mind practicing their math skills while playing them.

Blooket is a great game for math review. Students compete against each other as individuals or teams by answering questions correctly. Blooket can also be given as classwork or homework if you want students to work individually.

In order to play Blooket you will need to have an account. If you do not have an account go to blooket.com to sign up. They offer a free and paid version. The paid version is $35.88 a year. You can look at their website for the differences between the paid and free versions.

How to Play Blooket

1). Before playing Blooket for math review you will need to have a set of questions. Create your own multiple-choice questions or search Blooket’s database of created sets. If you have a Quizlet account you can create a set of questions from the flashcards.

2). Once you have your questions, you need to decide how you want to use Blooket with your students. If you want the students to work by themselves you can assign a Blooket as homework or classwork. Five out of the ten games that Blooket has will work for homework.

3). Pick the game for review you want students to play. Blooket has 10 games to choose from. My students love Factory, Tower Defense, Gold Quest, and Battle Royale. Blooket will add games for a limited time during the holidays. Directions are included for each game.

4). Check the game settings and change them if needed. You will need to decide if the game will end after a certain amount of time or when the students have received a certain amount of points.

5). During the game the teacher screen will have the leader board information. The students will have the game on their devices. When the game is over students can earn money to buy Blooks (the square characters). They must have their own account to do this.

My students love to collect the Blooks. Throughout the year new Blooks are introduced for students to collect. During Halloween and Christmas, they add special Blooks for students to collect.

6). When the game is over you can see the percentage correct for each student as well as how many questions were answered in total.

Conclusion

Blooket is a game for review that your students will love. It is easy to create your sets of questions and there are many games to pick from. Students will not be bored. Try it today! You will make your students happy!
